I'm back in the studio after my lovely painting trip to New Mexico. Santa Fe is one of my favorite places to visit...the sky is an incredible shade of blue and the colors of the high desert change by the hour. I stayed in the countryside outside Santa Fe in a little village called Tesuque. I didn't expect to see vivid yellows and violet with fields of Rabbit Brush and Fall Asters in full bloom mixed in with the Pinon Pines.

This trip I used gel plates on rough canvas, trying to capture the feel of the desert landscape.
